Video Contest

The Memphis-based Law Office of David E. Gordon is proud to announce that we will award two scholarships worth a combined $1,500 to current and prospective U.S. college students who write winning essays or submit winning videos in our Scholarship Essay & Video Contest.

Attorney David E. Gordon deeply values the role that higher education plays in allowing individuals to pursue fulfilling careers and to become responsible citizens. Our law firm’s goal is to help high school students with college plans as well as current college students to achieve their dreams.

Please read on to learn more about our eligibility and application requirements and take advantage of this exciting opportunity by submitting your entry by our deadline of Friday, December 2, 2016.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this contest, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen or legal permanent U.S. resident
  • A current high school junior or senior or a student who is currently enrolled in a two-year or four-year college or university.

Application Requirements

To be considered for one of our two scholarships, you must submit your entry to:

scholarship@davidgordonlaw.com by no later than Friday, December 2, 2016.

Employees of The Law Office of David E. Gordon, Consultwebs.com, Inc., their boards of directors and immediate family members are not eligible for this essay contest.

Essay & Video Requirements

You must submit an original essay of no more than 600 words or an original video of no longer than two minutes that addresses the following topic:

What can be done in our society to promote a greater respect for civil rights and for law enforcement?

Your essay or video must reflect that you have thoroughly researched the subject. You must cite to all sources of information. If you have a personal experience to share, please do so. Do not plagiarize, which is grounds for immediate disqualification. You are limited to one essay or video.

Ownership of Entries

All entries submitted to The Law Office of David E. Gordon in connection with our Scholarship Essay & Video Contest, along with all copyright, trademark and other proprietary rights associated therewith, become the property of The Law Office of David E. Gordon upon submission.

Entry materials will not be returned to any entrant. By submitting an entry, you acknowledge that if you win a scholarship award, The Law Office of David E. Gordon, will own all rights to publish and promote the submission.

Awards

After all entries are submitted by our deadline of Thursday, December 2, 2016, we will choose two students for our scholarship awards in the following amounts:

  • First place: $1,000
  • Second place: $500

Scholarship Essay & Video Contest awards must be used exclusively for tuition at an institution of higher learning located within the U.S. and/or for related expenses such as books and supplies. Award winners are expected to submit receipts in accordance with IRS regulations. Our Scholarship Essay & Video Contest award recipients will be notified of their selection.

Use of Name and Likeness

All entrants agree that they consent to the use of their name and area of residence as well to the use of their likeness (as in a photograph) and prize information.
